What is Fasting?
Fasting is voluntarily going without a regularly enjoyed tangible
blessing of God (typically food) for the sake of spiritual pursuit
of God for a particular purpose
Types of Fasts
1.Complete Fast
The complete fast is a water-only fast, abstaining from all food.
2.Liquid Fast
Abstain from all food; liquids such as smoothies, fresh juices, and pureed soups are allowed.
3.Partial Fast
Restricting when you eat or what you eat.
4.Soul Fast/Alternative Fast
Abstaining from all media for a set period to clear your mind and focus on your spiritual health.
5.Sexual Fast
A married couple can mutually agree to abstain from sex for a short period of time in order to devote themselves to prayer.
Fasting is placing greater importance on the spiritual realm rather than on the physical. It is about humbling ourselves before the sovereign ruler of all things and acknowledging that “man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” (Deut 8:3)
Be prayerful about what kind of fast God is calling you to. Listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Be ready to walk in the ways of the Lord.
